![]() I always thank them for giving up their breaktime at the end of our chat…#hotchocfriwiththeHT is voluntary. Articulate feedback, positive suggestions and general satisfaction with their school came through from our conversations. My favourite time of the week came around sooo quickly this week! 4 wonderful pupils arrived to spend their Friday breaktime with me much to my delight. I’ve moved it this morning to hopefully perk it back up a little… My ‘poor mans orchid’ is being suitably attended to…by Dylan and is growing fast! I’m not sure whether it has enjoyed as much as I have however, the direct sunlight that has been streaming through my office window over the past week. We are working hard with them all to ensure maximum progress and attainment but supporting their mental health and well being is all vital to help them achieve to their potential. It’s time for reality to hit and for them to realise how little time they have left. A sealed envelope just like in their final exams for them to open and read. We’re giving out grades on their parents evening in a few weeks time. We’ve been thrilled with their approach and are very proud of their dedication and commitment. A stressful time and a slight dawn of realisation for some about how much the pressure and challenge is increasing for them in preparation for their final GCSE exams. I’ve tweeted a short video of them playing which is really rather amazing…please do have a look if you get a other news, it’s mocks time for Year 11 pupils and they have been amazing. And so important that as a school community we come together to show our respect for those people who have lost their lives to take a moment out of our lives to remember those who have given their lives. It was incredibly special and very emotional. Two pupils played ‘The Last Post’ in the atrium which travelled hauntingly throughout the main building classes were respectfully silent the poppies hung motionless shining in the bright sunshine in a moment where a normally busy, noisy school stood silent to remember. The photos just don’t do it justice.Īt 1100 afyer the ringing of the school bell, the school fell instantly silent. It is beginning to look absolutely stunning and there’s still more poppies to be assembled and hung up. The Art Department, led by the fabulous Mrs O-C have recently completed a community project with our pupils, a local church and our link Primary schools, Harrison, Uplands and Wicor to make poppies to hang in this area. Talking of special…today we paid our respects as a whole school, to fallen comrades in conflict past and present. It was one of the most amazing learning walks I’ve done since I’ve been here…and reminded me (as if I needed it this week) how special this place really is. ![]() ![]() She was struck by how much every one she met really cares. She also, having seen the motivational and inspirational quotes that we’ve recently added around the school, gave me her favourite quote which I’ve used as the title to this weeks blog. She emailed me on Wednesday evening and told me that pupils and staff had been inspirational. Two wonderful hours spent talking to staff and pupils around the school in a whole variety of subject areas about what we do and how we do it….quite simply, what makes us Cams Hill. Instead of sitting in my office having our planned ‘meeting’, I collected her from reception, dropped her bag off in my office and went on a two hour learning walk. She spent nearly two and a half hours here with us all at Cams Hill and she absolutely loved her visit. Being new to the Fareham and Gosport area, she wanted to get out and about to visit local secondaey schools to find out where her pupils are coming from. The quote this week itself carries its own story…On Wednesday in my dairy for 1130 I had scheduled a visit from the new Headteacher at The Key, our local education / alternative provision centre for pupils who may be finding accessing mainstream a challenge for a variety of different reasons. Since the start of this academic year, we’ve introduced ‘Fantastic Friday shout outs’ for staff and Governors and the quote I use for the blog also entitles that message…a weekly round up of nominations from staff to staff for those that have gone the extra mile and deserve particular mention and thanks. As you know from my previous posts, the quotes that entitle each blog form an important part of the blog as a whole. This week however, I’ve had the most amazing amount of inspiration and could have chosen from a variety of key themes and ideas to shape week 9’s entry. I’m currently in the absolute deepest depths of a major piece of whole school strategic work that needed my undivided attention….well to be completely accurate it was the staff associated with it, not the actual piece of work that needed my undivided attention at a crucial time and I just had to let the blog slip.
